Well, President's Day weekend is coming up and I am ecstatic. It has been quite the difficult and busy week for me. I looking forward to having monday all to myself. There is also quite a bit going on in the next few days. This week should be very hospitable. Although friday is supposed to have some scattered showers, Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be sunny with highs of 53 degrees and 58 degrees. Spring is almost upon us. Keep are fingers cross that these temperatures keep rising.
There are some events at the library for the children over the next fews days. On Sunday, the 17th of February, Toby Barlow will be at the Ballard Library reading from his most recent book entitled "Sharp Teeth." The plot of the book follows three packs of wild roaming around the urban wilderness of East Los Angeles. This event starts at 3p.m and he will stay afterwards to autograph copies of his book. This event is free to the general public. In other news, Registration for Ballard High School Youth Soccer camp has just started. This camp is open to all boys and girls between the 1st and 6th grade. The camp takes place between June 23-26 from 9:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. The event itself will be held at Whitman Middle School. Sign up early to ensure a spot for your child. There is more information available at the website below.
For adults, there are few things going on over the next few days. Tomorrow, 14th of February, the paintings of Sami Painter and Roland Pantze will be on display at the Nordic Heritage Museum. This event is open to general public. I am not completely sure whether this event is free or not. For more information, contact the museum at 789-5707. The museum is located 3014 N.W. 67th Avenue. The main event last from 6 to 8:30p.m. The artwork itself will be on display until April 20th. Tomorrow, the Ballard Zoo is showcasing its carousel for those lovers who are looking for a little fun on Valentine's Day. There will be Hors d'oeuvres and there will be a special appearance by an animal friend. This event cost 60 dollars per person. For more information, call the Woodland Zoo at 548-2662. Make reservation quickly because space is limited.
For those who have a little Irish in them, there is just the thing for you this weekend. On Saturday, February the 16th, The Seattle Irish Pipers Club hosts the West Coast Irish Piper convention.
